Some mornings you wake up and you just know, you have that feeling, today is not going to be a good day. The alarm went off late, or you had a bad nights sleep. You’re tempted just to roll over, and forget about getting out of bed, but you know you can’t. I get it, a lot of my days start out like this. Actually, this morning was one of those for me. I went to bed late, which is never good for me, and usually means I wake up in a bit of a mood. That’s why I’m sharing my five ways to have a great day with you though, because I know it works.
EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST
Everybody knows by now, that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Just as important is what you choose to put on your plate. A healthy breakfast will jump-start your metabolism. It will also encourage your to make healthier choices through the rest of your day. I know for a fact, that when I eat healthy all day, I feel good knowing that I have taken good care of myself.
FIND SOMETHING TO BE GRATEFUL FOR
I’ve always been a “glass half full” kind of person. When my life is on a downward spiral, I always try to find the silver lining. I have found, waking up everyday and choosing to find something to be grateful for, helps you to see life in a different light. It doesn’t have to be anything special, today, I was grateful that we have a gardener, because I pretty much hate gardening.
Smiling just makes you feel better. Have you ever noticed that? It doesn’t have to be at anyone in particular, although it could be even nicer if it was. Sometimes I smile when I’m writing blog posts. I smile at our cat. I smile at strangers who pass me on the street. It just spreads a little bit of sunshine wherever you go, and that in turn, also makes you feel great.
LISTEN TO HAPPY MUSIC
When I say “happy music”, I mean anything that makes you feel like getting up and having a dance. Pop it on while you’re getting ready in the morning, or in the car on the way to work. In our home we always have some upbeat music in the mornings, it just seems to put us in a great frame of mind.
GET READY THE NIGHT BEFORE
I find I always have a better day if I have prepared for it the night before. I like to get our clothes ready, write a list of things that I need to accomplish, and tidy the house before I go to bed. Getting everything ready the night before means there are no decisions to be made in the morning, you can just get up and go. It makes mornings very easy, which also makes for a great day.
