If you want to be able to find running a household, balancing a career, and generally enjoying your life easy to do all at once, organization is key. And to do that, you should always look to your calendar to help you. By making sure that you have the right appointments in your diary each week, month, or even throughout the year, you’ll find that life tends to run a little like clockwork. First of all, we have health checks. And you know that you should be seeing your doctor and your dentist each year – the whole family, really. But this can be just one of those things that you always mean to get around to, but then forget all about. So get yourself into the habit of scheduling things well in advance. Plan in your next checkup when you’re at the doctor’s office or the dentist’s office. That way, you have the appointment planned in, and you don’t have to stress out about forgetting to plan it in or missing it altogether.

If you don’t have a cleaning schedule, then this is the first area where you’re going wrong. Because you’ll often find that you can stay on top of everything when you have set days of times to get each of your household errands done. Then, you’ll want to book in things like oven or carpet cleaning throughout the year too. Again planning this in ahead of time is the best way to stay on track, and not fall behind.

Then, you’re also going to want to make sure that you always have some social plans in place. When you’re busy, your social life is usually the first thing to suffer. However, spending time with friends is just as important as anything else. It keeps you sane, balanced, and happy – so get these plans in as often as you can.

If you’re the kind of person that always says they will plan in a vacation, but then never gets around to it, you’ll want to make sure that you start to book these in advance. Aim to do this around a year in advance. That way, you always know that you have your downtime planned in.

And finally, you have to make sure that you’re setting yourself a date each month to check in with your goals. If you want to make sure that you’re on track with your life, whether we’re talking your career or your aims for your family, checking in with your goals can really help you. So make sure that you put a date in the diary at the end or the start of each month to really check in with yourself and set your goals for the next month ahead.
